Biography

Mr. Baker is a Senior Development Engineer in the Reactor Materials and Mechanical Design group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He came to the laboratory in 1990 after completing his Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering from Washington State University. While at PNNL he completed his Masters degree (from WSU in 1993). Mr. Baker is a strong science advocate with a robust understanding of the scientific method and how the exploration of the unknown impacts the design of mechanical systems. He has worked in the development of software for data analysis and reduction. He has also performed simulation and modeling work for a variety mechanical and robotic systems, addressing kinematic and dynamic models of these systems. He has also written code to control robotic systems and user interface software for processing plants. He has designed, developed and fielded a variety of remote mechanical systems in nuclear environments. He has worked on the design and field installation of nuclear materials detection equipment for the Department of Homeland Security. His most recent work is in the area of automated logistics for the United States Army.
